Data breach revealed, potentially impacting several banks

Some of the biggest names in finance are reportedly trying to find out if – or how many of their – customers were affected by the data breach.

SitusAMC, a company that provides technology for many financial firms, announced over the weekend that it has suffered a data breach.

“We have confirmed that some of our customers’ data has been impacted,” the company wrote in a statement. “Corporate data such as accounting records and legal agreements associated with some of our customers’ relationships with SitusAMC may have been impacted. The scope, nature and extent of such impact is subject to investigation by the company and its third-party advisors.”

CNN reported that CitusAMC notified several major institutions, including JPMorgan Chase and Citi, that their data was affected by the cyberattack. It is unclear how many consumers or how much data may have been affected. The FBI said it was aware of the breach but had not identified any resulting problems with banking services.
