dallas – A Dallas-based American Airlines flight attendant who went missing in Colombia earlier this week has been found dead.

Authorities said they found the body of 32-year-old Fernando Gutierrez on Friday.
According to an update on social media from the mayor of Medellin, a body was located between Jericho and Puente Iglesias. Gutierrez’s father, who is currently in Medellin, was informed. The US Ambassador to Colombia was also informed.
It is not yet clear whether Gutierrez was the victim of a crime.
A medical examiner in Colombia is still working to determine his cause of death.
Back story:
According to local reports, Gutierrez disappeared on Saturday night while on a routine visit to Medellin. They were scheduled to stay overnight before flying to Miami the next day.
Gutierrez reportedly shared his location on Airbnb shortly before his disappearance. Friends and colleagues later filed a missing report with local authorities.

The Professional Flight Attendants Association told Fox 4 it is supporting all efforts to locate their co-worker.
In a statement, American Airlines said it was “actively engaged” with local law enforcement and providing assistance to Gutierrez’s family during the ongoing investigation.
FOX 4 spoke with Gutierrez’s sister by phone earlier in the week, but she said her family was not ready to comment yet.
