By now you’ve probably seen the meme of Cynthia Erivo standing in the street with her hands raised and looking dazed — and now Erivo herself has told the story behind it.
visible on The Tonight Show In the above clip, Wicked: for good The star explained to Jimmy Fallon that it all happened after losing one of her favorite hats Wicked It premiered in London last year. In 2025, a fan appeared in the autograph line outside an event in Paris, and told Erivo that his hat was safe at home.
“So I said to him, ‘Can I take it back?’ He said, ‘I don’t have it right now, it’s in my house,'” Erivo explains. “I said, ‘Well, when can we get it back?’ He said, ‘Can I get tickets for the premiere?’ ‘Listen, okay. Take them.’ And she brought it back and I was reunited.”
