Christmas came early for Critical Role fans everywhere, because the first episode The Mighty Nine Now streaming for free on YouTube.

Set to premiere on November 19, The Mighty Nine Critical Role is the second animated series with Prime Video, the first being The Legend of Vox MachinaLike The Legend of Vox Machina, The Mighty Nine Follows a group of unlikely heroes in the world of Exandria. However, The Mighty Nine Breaks new ground for Critical Role on TV, with longer episodes and a darker tone separating it from the raucous Saturday morning cartoon vibe. The first episode, titled “Mote of Possibility”, introduces the three The Mighty NineIs the main hero of. There’s the disheveled wizard Caleb Widogast (voiced by Liam O’Brien), the heavily intoxicated ghost Not the Brave (voiced by Sam Riegel), and the hot-headed cobalt soul monk Beauregard Lyonette (voiced by Marisha Ray). The three of them are separate travelers when we first meet them, but the ongoing war between the Krynn Dynasty and the Dwendalian Empire soon brings them together.

The inciting incident of that war takes center stage in “Mot of Possibility”, which begins with a wizard heist on the Krynn dynasty. Their goal? Luxon Beacon, an object of immense power. Full of magic and brutality, this episode is worth a watch for the heist alone.

The first three episodes of The Mighty Nine Premieres November 19 on Prime Video, with a new episode every Wednesday.
