Four people were injured after a vehicle struck a utility pole near the Weaver Dairy Extension Monday night, according to the Chapel Hill Police Department.
The utility’s outage map shows crews restored power to about 175 Duke Energy customers just before 6 a.m. Tuesday. The power cut lasted for a little less than eight hours.
Police said a car crashed into a utility pole on the Weaver Dairy Extension between Palafox Drive and Rowe Road about 10 p.m. Monday night. The driver and three passengers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The WRAL Breaking News Tracker captured video of crews replacing power poles and connecting utility lines. Around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, the city of Chapel Hill said crews reopened the Weaver Dairy Extension between Palafox Drive and Rowe Road. The area was closed for several hours for repairs.
The damaged pole appears to be at a bend in the road.
Chapel Hill Police said officers are investigating the cause of the crash.
