Chase Rice fans have two more chances to see the “Eyes on You” artist perform before he takes an official leave from touring.
“Taking next year off from touring for the first time in 13 years,” he shared via social media on Thursday, November 27.
While it seems like the break is legitimate, as the only shows on their schedule for 2026 are festivals like Stagecoach in Indio, California next April and Barefoot Country in Wildwood, New Jersey in June, their reason for taking a step back may have been made in jest.
The 40-year-old singer added, “I will go back and apply and train for my sixth year of college football.” “I get it. Carolina is my first choice, but Florida is second. (Lane Kiffin), you’re also a factor in this. Zero will play a role in this. I open my recruitment.”
As college football fans know, Lane Kiffin is rumored to be looking out of Ole Miss, Florida — among several other high-profile universities — to fill their head coaching role.
Before getting into country music he was a former college football linebacker for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He ventured into country music after writing songs with his friends Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelly of Florida Georgia Line, including their smash hit “Cruise”.
He previously told Sony Music Nashville, “I’m a big college football guy. I love the North Carolina Tar Heels, I played football there for five years and gave my life to that university, you know, and they give back to me a lot and the Tar Heels are my team.” “But, I grew up on the Florida Gators. I grew up in Florida before moving to North Carolina, and so I’ve always been a Gator fan. The kid in me is always screaming Florida Gators on Saturdays.”
