It was an all-out battle between Bedard and McTavish, former roommates and 2022 Canadian World Junior Championships teammates.

MacTavish had one point while Bédard had four points, but this is not the origin of the battle in which they took part. Their competitive spirit was on full display throughout the competition. There was a lot of pushing and shoving throughout the 60 minutes of gameplay.
After scoring a run into the empty net, Connor Bedard looked toward the Anaheim bench and started chirping at them. Once the final horn sounded, Bedard and McTavish came together for one final scrimmage before heading to the locker room.
Bédard was asked about the entire situation and his response was honest and light-hearted, making his feelings about McTavish clear.
“We’re really close,” Bedard said of McTavish. “He’s just like that, he’s a guy that always wants to compete. I was roommates with him, I was on the same team with him for a few years, and everything we do, he’s trying to make it a competition. Such a great player, such a good competitor. He’s a fun guy to play against. Obviously it’s fun to play with him.”

Bedard acknowledged that he was going to say hello to him after the media session ended. There will be no hostility arising from snow. On the ice, you have two young players who are the stars of the game, trying to win.
There will be another battle a week later between the Blackhawks and Ducks. Next Sunday, the Blackhawks will visit the Ducks in Anaheim. This will be the third and last meeting between the two. The Blackhawks have won both. Expect friendships to be put aside again as two competitors go out there and do what they do best, which is play hockey at a high level.
