Colts QB status vs Texans

INDIANAPOLIS – The Colts say the fibula injury Daniel Jones is dealing with is not an injury that is significantly hindering the team’s starting quarterback.

Jones will be listed as limited on Wednesday’s injury report, an anticipated practice report because the Colts are conducting walk-throughs, a common practice by NFL coaches to ease into practice in the final months of the season.

But Indianapolis isn’t worried about the quarterback’s availability.

“He’ll be good to go this week,” Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen said.

Neither the Colts nor Jones have disclosed the specifics of the quarterback’s injury.

“It was something that was hanging around and I realized it last week,” Jones said. “I’m trying to get treatment and make sure I’m in the best shape I can be.”

Jones initially appeared on the injury report last Thursday.

He was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, then felt something in his shin area at the beginning of practice on Thursday. When the Colts investigated the injury further, they realized it was his fibula.

“Last week I realized something,” Jones said. “It’s hard to say exactly when, but it’s something I felt last week, I saw. It’s been really good working with the coaches here and making sure we’re ready to go, we have a plan.”

Jones played all 51 snaps against the Chiefs.

From the sideline, it looked like Jones was a little less aggressive on the run while gaining 16 yards on three carries, but the Colts remained adamant that the injury did not affect the way he played at all.

“Just play,” Jones said. “When you’re there, you can’t afford to think about something like that.”

Indianapolis does not expect Jones to be limited the rest of the week.

“I’m absolutely fine,” Jones said. “I’ll be ready to go on Sunday.”
