Australian police say they have arrested dozens of people during climate protests that claimed to have stopped two cargo ships at one of the world’s largest coal export ports.
New South Wales State Police said several workers were engaged in “unsafe activities” in the water at Newcastle Harbor during the protest.
Climate activist group Rising Tide, which claimed responsibility for the latest protest, said hundreds of activists paddled kayaks into the port’s shipping lanes.
