Anthropic announced today that its Cloud Code and Cloud Cowork tools are being updated to enable completing tasks using your computer. With the latest update, these AI resources will be able to open files, use the browser, and run dev tools.
When enabled, the Cloud AI chatbot will first prioritize connectors for supported services like Google Workplace Suite or Slack, but if no connector is available, it will still be able to perform a specified task. The cloud must ask for permission before taking these actions, but Anthropic still recommended not using this feature to handle sensitive information as a precaution.
Cloud computer access will initially be available to Cloud Pro and Cloud Max customers on MacOS. This feature is still in a research preview, so it will continue to be adjusted based on user feedback from Anthropic. It will also support the use of Anthropic’s Dispatch feature, which allows a person to send messages to a chatbot in the same continuous conversation on phone and desktop.
Cloud Cowork was introduced in January. It is an iteration of the Cloud Code AI agent for programmers that is designed for more casual users.
