Clarke vs TKV: Security separate heavyweights at weigh-in for British title fight

An angry Fraser Clarke abused Jamie ‘TKV’ Shikewa’s teammates as his temper flared up at the test weigh-in for their British heavyweight title bout in Derby on Saturday.

After both men reached the scale – Clarke at 19st 4lb (123kg) and TKV at 18st 12lb (120kg) – a furious standoff ensued.

Words were exchanged and voices gradually rose, and security was increased as tensions threatened to escalate.

Clark then stuck up both his middle fingers at TKV’s small crew, resuming the verbal skirmish.

Clark, 34, warned, “I’m going to take this guy to school and beat him up.” The next time they meet at the Valiant Arena, the clash will be broadcast live on BBC Two.

The rivalry between the two Britons has intensified since their original October 25 fight was postponed due to TKV’s injury, which Clarke has publicly questioned.

TKV, 32, said, “He’s a funny character. I passed him in the corridor, didn’t do anything, but when security is around he wants to say funny things.” “It really reflects his character.”

The weigh-in was open to the public, with a few hundred fans gathered in the function room of a hotel near East Midlands Airport.

Clark left the stage, but shouted from the floor, “One round”, to which TKV responded: “You keep shaking your head and I’ll knock you out tomorrow.”
