Prior to the game, Kansas City suffered several notable injuries. One of them was offensive lineman Trey Smith.
Smith left the game against the Colts early due to injury, and on Monday it was reported that he was “likely” to miss the Thanksgiving Day game due to high and low ankle sprains.
On Wednesday, the Chiefs announced that three players are out for the Thanksgiving Day game, and one of them is Smith, which was expected.

“Trey Smith, Noah Gray and Chris Rowland-Wallace are out for Thursday’s game against the Cowboys,” the team posted on Twitter.
Tight end Noah Gray is also out with an injury, but Smith’s absence is a big deal for the Chiefs’ offensive line.
Smith was replaced by Mike Caliendo after leaving the game against the Colts, and all signs point to Caliendo again filling in for Smith while he is out with an injury.
According to Pro Football Focus, Smith has allowed one sack all year. He was a prized signing when the Chiefs signed him to a four-year, $94 million deal, so he’s been a big part of the offensive line’s success in Kansas City.
