The winter storm is expected to dump several inches of snow in the Chicago area this weekend.
Thursday is expected to be cool and muggy and Friday is also expected to be cool and dry.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch, which will go into effect for the Chicago area at 3 a.m. Saturday and remain in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday.
ABC7 AccuWeather meteorologist Jasol Martinez says the first snowfall in the area is expected around 3 or 4 a.m. Saturday. The heaviest snow is expected to fall during the afternoon and evening hours.

There is a possibility of rain and snow in some parts of the region on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Chicago and its surrounding areas may receive five to eight inches of snowfall, while areas north and west of the city may receive more than eight inches of snowfall. Areas in the Far South and parts of Indiana could see three to five inches of snowfall.
After the snow recedes, it will remain cold on Sunday with night minimum temperatures in the single digits.
