On Monday, many heading to O’Hare and Midway are hopeful there will be no delays or cancellations.
Many travelers heading to O’Hare and the Midway are hoping there will be no delays or cancellations after the winter storm that caused travel disruptions over the weekend.
Over the weekend, more than 1,300 flights were canceled between O’Hare and Midway.
As of 5 a.m. Monday, there have been 50 cancellations at O’Hare and none at Midway.
The Federal Aviation Administration said at one point Sunday that departures to O’Hare were delayed an average of about an hour because of snow or ice, and departures from the airport were delayed an average of 15 minutes.
Many passengers said it was a mess, with some actually boarding the flight, waiting on the tarmac for hours, only to get off the plane and do it all again.
“We had to stop in Denver and then we heard that we got canceled for later and later and later and later,” said passenger Fran Reynolds. “I think we were here on the runway for maybe an hour and a half.”
