ChatGPT Atlas adds Arc-like vertical tabs

Similar to Arc, you can change the size of the sidebar on ChatGPT Atlas, as well as rearrange your tabs. However, the new sidebar is still not as full-featured as Arc, and the address bar remains at the top of your screen. You can try out vertical tabs on ChatGPT Atlas by right-clicking inside the address bar, hovering over “Tab Style,” and then selecting “Vertical Tabs.”

With this change, you can now set Google as your default search engine, which makes sense because using a browser sometimes feels like Googling with extra steps. Otherwise, ChatGPT Atlas will present you with about 10 relevant sources found on the web, along with links to Google search results in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Some other updates include the ability to select and drag multiple tabs by holding down Command or Shift and clicking. When downloading Atlas you can also import your extensions from your existing browser, although this feature is not yet available to existing users. In addition to support for iCloud Keychain passkeys, there’s also an improved download interface.

ChatGPT Atlas launched on macOS last month, joining Perplexity’s Comet and Google’s Gemini extensions in Chrome as the newest addition to AI-enabled browsing experiences. With ChatGPT Atlas, you can either enter a URL or type a question that will be answered by ChatGPT. You can see the full list of changes on OpenAI’s website.
