Charli XCX and Raye to headline

British stars Charli XCX, Dave and Ray are to headline Reading and Leeds festivals next summer.

Irish rockers Fontaines DC, electronic duo Chase & Status and singers Florence + The Machine will also headline both events over the August bank holiday weekend.

Organizers say it is the first time in 25 years that the sister festival has exclusively headlined British and Irish acts.

Five-time Brit Award winner Charli XCX’s appearances are her only UK festival shows currently scheduled for next year.

Bosses at Reading and Leeds said the two events will join forces next year to form the only UK festival to feature all six headliners.

There will also be a Thursday headline performance for the first time at the West Yorkshire site, with rock band Kasabian set to take to the stage.

Irish rap trio Kneecap, pop singer Zedd and grime artist Skepta also feature on the bill throughout the weekend, along with American singers Sombre and Role Model.

Other confirmed artists include rising singer Sky Newman, Manchester-based DJ Josh Baker, Irish producer Kettama, US rock band Geez, Slovakian singer Adela and rock band KO.

Dutch DJ Chris Stussy will play Reading Only, with more shows yet to be announced.

US pop star Chappelle Rhone and US rapper Travis Scott headlined festivals this summer, alongside metal band Bring Me the Horizon and singer-songwriter Hozier.

The events will take place in Reading’s Richfield Avenue and Bramham Park in Leeds between 27 and 30 August, with artists performing on different days.

Tickets go on general sale on Thursday, with pre-sale already live.
