CES 2026: DuRoBo’s Krono e-reader is coming to the US market in late January

Move over Kindle, a new bomb has entered the e-reader sphere. Durobo’s Chrono e-reader is coming to the United States and European markets in 2026, and it’s all debuting at CES.

The Chrono e-Reader – or, as Durobo calls it, an ePaper Focus Hub – is a power-packed device that comes with a lot more power than you’re used to. Measuring 6.1 inches, it’s an almost pocket-sized device, even smaller than the original Kindle.

All its controls are housed in its Smart Dial, which, apart from letting you navigate menus and adjust settings, also records voice notes on your commands. It has a Carta 1200 HD display with a 300 ppi resolution, typically the same resolution you’ll find on Kindles.

What is most special about the Chrono e-reader is its 128GB storage space. We’re used to seeing e-readers max out at 32GB, and now the Chrono is quadrupling that. But with its open Android operating system, you’ll need that storage space for apps, as you can download Spotify, Reddit, Gmail, Google Drive, and more onto the device. It also has a built-in speaker in addition to Bluetooth connectivity, which provides flexibility if you want to listen loudly or over a pair of wireless headphones.

The Chrono won’t be for everyone, as many e-reader users choose the device for its distraction-free design. However, it bridges the gap between tablets and e-readers and, with the black-and-white display, potentially makes it less attractive to scroll through.

The Chrono e-Paper device will be on display at CES 2026, and is coming to the United States and European markets in late January. It will retail for $279.99 and will be available for purchase on Durobo’s site.
