Celtics Get Bad Injury News On Two Starters Before Cavaliers Game

The Boston Celtics had to play the entire season without Jayson Tatum, who is out with an Achilles injury.

However, his numbers will drop even further for Sunday’s road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers after today’s injury report was released.

Tatum will remain out, but he will be joined by Neemias Queta and Derrick White, both of whom have been ruled out of tonight’s game after yesterday’s 119-115 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Celtics are being cautious with Quetta, who suffered a left ankle sprain in last Sunday’s win over the Orlando Magic. He missed Wednesday’s win over the Detroit Pistons before returning Saturday, contributing a double-double in Boston’s loss.

White, who is dealing with a right calf injury, will miss his first game of the season for the Celtics. He scored 16 points in 39 minutes on Saturday, so Joe Mazzulla is probably just giving him relief.

Without two of its starters for the second half of a back-to-back, Boston will have to work hard to defeat the Cavaliers, who are 12-8 this season and 8-3 at home. Cleveland is coming off back-to-back losses against the Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks and will also be without several key players, including Jarrett Allen.

With Quetta and White sidelined, the Celtics will need to get even more production from Jaylen Brown, Peyton Pritchard, Josh Minott, Luka Garza and Anfernee Simmons if they want to beat the Cavaliers for the second time this season and finish November with a win.
