Another series of cards describes certain immigration crimes and related federal charges: passport misuse, fraud or visa abuse, and fleeing a checkpoint. Cards regarding voluntary return, expedited removal, and warrants of removal to countries outside the US describe the forms that need to be filled out and then provide a reminder about a checklist on something called an “Agent Resource Page” to ensure the “accuracy of all of the above.”
“We take reports of sensitive or inappropriate content seriously and take immediate action when content is found to violate our policies,” a Quizlet spokesperson wrote in a statement. “We encourage anyone who finds concerning content to report it or contact us directly from the flashcard set, classroom or profile page so we can review and take appropriate action.”
Other cards detailed information about the Kingsville task force’s 1,932-square-mile area of responsibility, which includes six county lines, and the agency’s internal grid and zone organizational system. Due to the structure of local highways, a card “does not exist”.
Another card names 11 CBP “towers” in the area. (Some of the names of the towers match gates and codes that WIRED is withholding due to their potential confidentiality.) The card notes the abbreviations of the two towers and the shared area of responsibility of the third tower.
The final card details an explicit internal system, “E3 BEST”, which allows officers to “record, investigate, and adjudicate secondary referrals at USBP checkpoints,” allowing them to “query subjects and vehicles simultaneously through multiple law enforcement databases and create E3 events for referrals that result in arrests.”
This potential exposure of classified information comes amid rapid hiring growth at CBP, with up to $60,000 in recruitment and retention incentives available for some new agents. ICE is also trying to recruit faster, with its plan offering a $50,000 signing bonus and up to $60,000 in student loan repayment.
