Carol seeks the truth (serum) in Pluribus episode 4

About one of my big questions last week Pluribus The question was whether our reluctant heroine Carol (Rhea Seehorn) would find someone to help save the world from the crisis of happiness. In episode 4, I got an answer – something like this. We’ve apparently been introduced to a character who thinks the same way as him, but how they’ll actually connect is still a big question mark.

Welcome to our weekly discussion about Apple TV’s latest science fiction series. Pluribuswhatever comes breaking bad Producer (and former x files Author: Vince Gilligan. In the show, most of humanity has become part of a hive mind that seems capable only of positive emotions, while the perpetually unhappy Carol is one of a handful “surviving”, and she is also the one who wants the world back to the way it was. Each week, I share some of our biggest questions about the latest episode, and the verge Customers can use the comments to provide feedback, ask their own questions, and offer other theories and ideas. Naturally, spoilers ahead For the first four episodes of Pluribus,

This week’s episode once again started with a slow, mostly dialogue-free sequence. This time we see Manousos (Carlos Manuel Vesga) – notably the only survivor who hates the Hive as much, if not more, than Carol – living a horrible existence inside a storage facility. He refuses any help or even contact with the hive, and so has to eat old sugar packets and dog food cans to survive. He seems to be very dedicated to his principles. More importantly, his anger towards the Hive makes him a perfect partner for Carol. Except, of course, that they live on opposite sides of the world and don’t speak the same language.

Meanwhile, now that Carol has understood the reality of the situation, she spends most of the episode trying to learn as much as she can about the Hive. The biggest lesson is that they can’t lie to him directly, but they can do Avoid telling him the truth. Unfortunately, this leads to Carol creating a type of truth serum that is also incredibly dangerous. Poor Zosia (Karolina Wydra). Anyway, here are my three biggest questions at the moment:

How are Carol and Manausos going to connect?

It seems inevitable. But there are so many logistical issues with travel from Peru to the Americas in this new world that it’s hard to see how it would happen. The problems are only exacerbated by the fact that Manausos will not accept any help from the hive. And even once they meet, how will they communicate?

Can Carol discover the real truth?

And by that I mean whether it’s possible to undo the “joining”, as it’s called, and set the world back the way it was. The Hive’s reluctance to tell her anyway shows that it is indeed possible, but Carol also has to fight against some Arabs who are working together to stop her from “fixing” things. The truth serum was a good idea that didn’t quite work… and could lead to an even bigger problem.

How long will the hive tolerate Carol?

Even if it is sometimes unintentional, carols continue to cause damage to the hive, and you have to think that at some point they will get fed up and their self-preservation instincts will activate. Especially considering that Carol is actively working to undo their connection. Then, they intend to make him happy, no matter the cost (grenades, anyone?). These two elements are in direct conflict – and it will be interesting to see how they collide.
