Vince Zampella, who had a major hand in developing the franchise medal of Honor, DutyAnd Battle fieldDied in a car accident on Sunday, NBC Los Angeles reports. He was 55 years old.
NBC Los Angeles and CBS Los Angeles report that the California Highway Patrol responded to a car crash on Angeles Crest Highway in Altadena around 12:45 a.m. local time. According to the CHP’s incident log, an emergency SOS request came via satellite from an Apple device.
The Highway Patrol did not identify Zampella, but CHP Officer Marissa McIntyre sent a press release about the crash saying:
Preliminary investigation indicates vehicle #1 was traveling southbound on Angeles Crest Highway within the #1 lane at approximately MPM 62.70. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road, struck a concrete barrier and was completely engulfed. The passenger was ejected from the vehicle and the driver remained trapped. Both sides succumbed to their injuries.
