Breezy onshore winds fuel dangerous surf; gradual warmup ahead

West Palm Beach, Florida – A strong area of ​​high pressure sliding southeast is causing strong onshore winds along the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach.

This pattern brings a mix of rough waves, dangerous rip currents and choppy ocean conditions, along with some coastal rainfall.

Some moisture is returning to the area, but not enough to cause widespread rainfall. Most of the area remains mostly dry, with only sporadic rain possible today and Sunday.

Winds will remain strong today, with gusts of 25-30 mph at times. Still windy on Sunday but a little lighter.

A front stalls north of Florida early in the week, helping to deliver a boost of moisture. Scattered rainfall is expected mainly along the coast. The best chance of rain comes Tuesday as another cold front moves across the peninsula.

Temperatures are falling toward seasonal norms, with highs in the 70s to low 80s and lows in the 50s and 60s near the coast.
