Breeze Airways has canceled planned flights between Redmond and Burbank, California, before they were scheduled to begin. Service will still be provided, but by Alaska Airlines, the Redmond airport confirmed Friday.

Flights between the two airports have been operated by Alaska since October.

Breeze plans to move up planned flights between Redmond and Las Vegas, which were scheduled to begin in mid-March, said Jodi Low, Redmond airport customer service and administrative support.

The airline said in an email to The Bulletin that it did not want to cut service, especially before service began, but had to make adjustments to its schedule to maximize resources. The company announced in August that it would offer flights from Redmond to Provo, Utah; Las Vegas and Burbank. The announcement came after Avello dropped several of its routes, including all of its flights from Redmond.

According to the airline, customers who had booked on the Burbank, California to Redmond route have been notified of the change.

According to the airline’s website, Alaska Airlines operates daily flights from Redmond to Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Portland. The new routes are part of the airline’s plan to connect the Pacific Northwest to California, according to the airline’s statement.

“We are pleased to announce that Alaska Airlines will begin offering daily nonstop service between Redmond and Burbank beginning October 26,” Low said. “This ensures continued direct access to the Burbank area for Central Oregon travelers.”

According to the website, Breeze Airways launched airline service in 2021 and offers approximately 170 seasonal and year-round routes across 60 cities.
