Both Arizona State and Arizona are eligible to enter the Territorial Cup for the first time since 2017, and the Sun Devils’ conference title hopes are still alive.
ASU can still win the Big 12 title, but it will have to contribute by winning on Friday before suffering some additional losses to other teams.
If the Sun Devils miss the playoffs, they will join Arizona in the traditional Pac-12 bowl assignment for the final year. Moving forward, they will be under Big 12 assignment in 2024 after the old Pac-12 teams are tied for games in the old league.
While there is overlap in one bowl – the Alamo Bowl – most will be new. These include the Pop-Tarts Bowl, Texas Bowl, Liberty Bowl, Independence Bowl, and Phoenix Rhett Bowl, all played at Chase Field.
ASU played in the Peach Bowl last season, which will be the CFP semifinals this season after a quarterfinal appearance a year ago. Arizona’s last bowl appearance came when it won the 2023 Alamo Bowl.
Here’s where experts are projecting them to play postseason games:
