I write about all things laptop here at Mashable, and whenever a family member or friend comes to me for a shopping recommendation, I always tell them this: “Unless it’s an emergency, don’t buy anything until Black Friday.”
My argument is simple. The end-of-year shopping season is when I see the deepest discounts on laptops at Amazon, Best Buy, and other major tech retailers. That’s partly because these stores know that people are looking for good, gift-worthy purchases before the holidays, but it Too Because they are trying to sell off their current inventory before the next generation upgrade early next year. Enter: record-low prices on MacBooks, Windows laptops, and Chromebooks. Voila: An upgrade that’s usually out of your budget suddenly becomes affordable.
Black Friday 2025: Live updates on the latest deals from Amazon, Target, Walmart and more
Most laptop retailers’ sales are already live, even though Black Friday isn’t until November 28, and I’m happy with the deals I’m seeing so far. A bunch of the best laptops we’ve tested here at Mashable are now on sale at deep discounts. This includes my top picks for most people, as well as some more specific options in the budget, OLED, ultraportable, gaming, and dual-screen categories. You’re not just saving a ton of money on laptops this season – you’re actually saving a ton of money on some laptops too Great Laptop.

Below, I’ve found all the best Black Friday laptop deals we’ve seen so far. I’ve only picked laptops that I would happily add to my cart if I were in the market to buy a new PC. All the laptops here have been tried and tested by the Mashable team.
M4 Apple MacBook Air
Apple’s latest MacBook Air is lighter, quieter, and faster than 83% of the laptops in our entire testing database – it’s a truly impressive ultraportable. The 15-inch model is my first choice for most people, but the 13-inch model is great for college students and other users who want something cheaper and more portable. Both sizes were regularly on sale at $200 off at Amazon earlier this fall, and I really didn’t think they’d get any cheaper at this point in their life cycle (considering they’re still less than a year old). Shockingly, they are now $250 off at Amazon and Best Buy.

14-inch M5 Apple MacBook Pro
If you want an Apple laptop with even more power, a brighter 120Hz display, more ports for creative work, and tremendous endurance, the all-new MacBook Pro is my favorite choice. (At 21 hours and 17 minutes, it has the longest battery life of any MacBook we tried.) It debuted in mid-October at a starting price of $1,599, which our tech editor highly praised. Right now, the base configuration with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is only $1,444 on Amazon — a savings of over $150. No one else is matching him.

A refurbished 13-inch M3 Apple MacBook Air
If you’re looking for a very cheap but very old MacBook, Best Buy has a refurbished 13-inch MacBook Air with last year’s M3 chip on sale for just $569.99. (Walmart usually sells the M1 model from 2020 for $599, so it’s a real steal.) It has a 1080p FaceTime camera and closed-lid support for two external displays, while the new M4 version has a nice 12MP webcam and open-lid support for two monitors. It comes with half the RAM as the latest model and runs about 24% slower. Still, it’s a great choice for simple everyday tasks like web browsing and sending email.
Updated: November 21, 2025, 4:40 PM EST This deal was so good that it already sold out, but I’m keeping it here in case Best Buy brings it back closer to Black Friday. You can sign up for restock notifications on its product page.

Acer Aspire 16 AI
Cheap laptop buyers who don’t want to go the Chromebook route should buy the Acer Aspire 16 AI, a $699.99 PC that surprised me with its 17-hour battery life, great mix of ports, relatively light frame, 120Hz touchscreen, and fast performance. (It’s the fastest laptop under $900 we’ve reviewed.) It’s on sale at Amazon for just $449.99, or 36% off.

asus zenbook a14
The ZenBook A14 is a great MacBook Air alternative with a beautiful OLED display, 22 hours of battery life, and a lightweight but sturdy design. It’s actually 0.3 pounds Light Compared to the 13-inch MacBook Air (and it starts with twice the storage at the same price). Best Buy’s 45% Black Friday discount drops it down to just $549.99, an all-time low.

lenovo yoga slim 7x
If you can spend the extra $250, you’ll get an even better OLED display in the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x. It has a higher 3K resolution, a better 90Hz refresh rate, and additional touchscreen capabilities than the ZenBook A14. It’s also a little faster, and it doesn’t lose too much battery life — I got about 20 hours in my testing. Best Buy currently sells the base model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage for $799.99, down from its usual price of $1,299.99. The 1TB version is available on Lenovo’s website for $979.99, or a 24% discount.

alienware 16x aurora
The Alienware 16X Aurora is my new favorite gaming laptop for most people. It’s an excellent mid-ranger with a 240Hz matte display, one-zone RGB backlighting, an Intel Aero Lake processor, and Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series graphics. The variant I tested has a high-end Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, an RTX 5070 GPU, 32GB of memory, and 1TB of storage; Its price is already quite reasonable at $1,999.99, but Dell is currently selling it as a Black Friday deal for $1,649.99 (or 18% off). Other configurations with lower specifications start at only $1,299.99 at Best Buy.

Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (Gen 10)
If you need more screen space than a regular laptop but No Love the idea of having a separate monitor, so allow me to introduce you to the latest Lenovo Yoga Book 9i. It’s a gorgeous dual-screen laptop with twin 2.8K 120Hz OLED displays, a smooth detachable keyboard, and a zippy processor. (It’s actually slightly faster than the M4 MacBook Pro.)
This Lenovo laptop usually costs $2,079.99, but Lenovo has it on sale for just $1,559.99 as part of its Black Friday sale – a savings of 25%. It’s a better value than ever, especially when you add the fact that it includes the matching mouse, stylus, keyboard case, and protective sleeve case all included.

Lenovo Flex 5i Chromebook Plus
Lenovo’s convertible Chromebook Plus is my favorite Chromebook for most buyers due to its great build quality, good performance, great speakers, and good keyboard. Two configurations are available: one with an Intel Core i5-1334U processor and 256GB of storage, and another with a less powerful Intel Core i3-1315U processor and 128GB of storage. They both retail for $599 at full price.
The first configuration is the model we tested, and it’s a Costco exclusive (though you can buy it without a membership). Its price has been dropped to $529.99 ahead of Black Friday, which is actually the first time I’ve seen it on sale. The second, more compact version is a worse value at full price, but Best Buy is currently selling it for $349 (or $250 off), making it a great option for budget shoppers with basic needs.

acer chromebook plus spin 514
Acer’s brand new Chromebook Plus Spin 514 features an unmatched 18-hour battery life and a fast processor (relatively speaking) with an NPU that supports two exclusive AI features. I’ve tried a Best Buy-exclusive configuration that has 12GB of memory and a 120Hz touchscreen display, which costs $699, and I’m kind of obsessed with it. That’s certainly too much for most Chromebook users, but it’s definitely worth considering if you want a high-end, super-future-proof model – especially now that it’s $100 off for Black Friday. It has never been sold before.
