Automatic emptying isn’t at all reserved for the best robot vacuums as it was five years ago — I’d argue it’s the most generalized feature outside of vacuuming, even in the realm of cheap robot vacuums under $300. The unspoken agreement is that if you’re buying a robot vacuum to avoid vacuuming by hand, you won’t mind manually dumping the trash every day. Plus, this fully automated setup will free up some time for other spring cleaning tasks you’ve been putting off.

why we like it
When the Eufy C28 came out in February 2026, I tested it and loved it. And I think it will remain one of my most recommended robot vacuum and mop combos for the next year.
On sale for under $500, the Eufy C28 is probably the most affordable roller mop robot vacuum you’ll find this season. The fluffy roller covers the entire bottom of the vacuum and flushes itself with fresh water while mopping, making it a far more reliable option for sucking up large liquid spills (without spreading around) than other cheap mopping robot vacuums. Its self-emptying dock also rinses and dries wipes after each clean, so it’s easy to forgive how painfully noisy it is.
Its small obstacle avoidance was surprisingly accurate during my testing—it avoided slippers and hand towels, cat toys, and (most) phone chargers as well as many premium vacuums.
