wake up dead man It received early praise after screening at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September, and an early teaser was released shortly after featuring Blank perplexed over the classic locked-room mystery. The new trailer offers some details without giving away too much.
The Rev. is the prime suspect in the murder of Judge Wicks, as he hated the man and therefore had an obvious motive, but he tells Blank that he is innocent. We learn that Wicks was rich, and while it’s a classic whodunit, we know that the rest of the characters undoubtedly have their own deep, dark secrets – one of which could lead to murder. And Johnson brings the humor too, as Blank, the groundskeeper, and Martha discover the desecration of Wicks’ tomb with a graffitied penis. “Makes me sick,” says the ethereal Martha, “these kids painting rocket ships on her sacred resting place.”
