Bangladesh vs Ireland: Matthew Humphreys stars as tourists win first T20 international

Ireland started well at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Cricket Stadium and had 40 runs on the board by the time opener Paul Stirling was out for 21.

The Tector brothers, Tim and Harry, increased Ireland’s score to 71 before Tector was out for 32.

Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector helped Ireland pass 100, and the tourists were in a strong position at 105–2 when Tucker was caught by Tanzim Hasan Saqib.

Curtis Campher was out in the 17th over as Ireland were 142, but Tector struck late, remaining unbeaten on 69, and George Dockrell helped them reach 181.

Bangladesh were expecting a strong response but Ireland’s bowlers dismantled their top order.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim (two) was dismissed by Humphreys in the first over, while Liton Kumar Das (one) and Pervez Hussain Amon (one) both fell to Mark Adair midway through the fourth over, leaving the hosts 5-3 down.

Saif Hasan was the next to fall for six, bowled by McCarthy, as Bangladesh lost 18–4.

Wickets continued to fall and Bangladesh fell well short of Ireland’s total despite the best efforts of Tauheed Hridoy, who remained unbeaten on 83.
