After a brief tease late last year, this week Bandai gave us a full look at the third entry in its “Gamerverse” series in the form of another X-Men star, Wolverine. Along with some alternate hands, Logan comes with two faceplates – one angry by gnashing his teeth, the other angry by yelling – and which has now become a staple for this line of figures in the form of a pixel-art cardboard background depicting his iconic Fatal Claw hyper combo carving an X-shaped slash across the screen.
While he loses that fidelity in comparison to some of the little touches that made Logan’s overall vibe in the fighting game (especially his claws, which are much less exaggerated and curved here). mvc Even after adopting the first two shapes, he can still pull off a lot of his iconic poses from the games, including his adorable angry little squatting animation. It’s a shame he’s just a really good 90s-style Wolverine instead of being more specifically actually good. Marvel vs Capcom-style one. But who can accept the gift of Volvi?
Hopefully this is a sign that things won’t stop any time soon for Bandai’s expensive Figuarts or Hasbro’s own “Gamerverse” series, which last year delivered a bunch of fantastic two-packs (and a very Bendy Shuma-Gorath ni Gargantos) inspired by Capcom’s Marvel history. Wolverine is the first figure to be done by both companies in this line, so it will be interesting to see what happens between the two Logans when Bandai’s effort comes out this summer.
SH Figuarts “Gamerverse” Wolverine is currently slated for release in June, with pre-orders going live next week on February 2nd in Japan.
