Vermont White Spruce won the competition by coming very close to a perfect score. Based on the most thorough testing we’ve seen, this is the best fake Christmas tree you can buy. However, like other Balsam Hill trees, it is not cheap. The list price is $1,700, although it is usually listed for sale for a few hundred bucks. It’s currently priced at $999, which is the cheapest we’ve seen this year.
This isn’t the only sale: Balsam Hill’s other trees are up to 50% off. Other Balsam Hill trees are up to 50% off right now.
Maybe your tree has already been up for a year, or maybe you don’t want to spend a lot on a fake Christmas tree, but this is a great deal on a tree that will likely be with you for a decade or more.
- Like other Balsam Hill pre-lighted trees, you don’t have to fiddle with any wires to hook this one up. The trio’s three parts click together and make an automatic electrical connection, so when you plug it in and press a button, it’s ready to decorate.
- It is very lively. Light a spruce-scented Yankee Candle, and you might even fool a few guests in the right lighting. It is a lush and green tree whose metal trunk you cannot see directly through.
- You get a lot of nice little perks like free shipping over $350, a very sturdy plastic carry bag, and even gloves to protect your hands while inflating it (budget at least an hour to accommodate the branches).
After testing the trees, we let the guys who assembled them take them home — my friend Lexi Wehrmeister tells us the trees were easy to deal with in her house. She cautions people not to throw away the plastic end caps that came with it, as the tree’s sharp metal click-together connection cut straight through her carry-on bag.
