Apple Vision Pro gets an official YouTube app

Apple’s augmented reality headset is just getting an actual YouTube app.

Home for Internet Video is now available as an app on the App Store for anyone who has an M2 or M5 Apple Vision Pro device. With this app, you can watch YouTube videos in a theater-like virtual environment, with full access to playlists, shorts, and everything you find on YouTube. M5 Vision Pro owners can also watch videos in 8K if they exist in that format.

Samsung Galaxy XR review: A great Vision Pro alternative, but for whom?

In fact, the big news here is that there was already no YouTube app on the Vision Pro. It seems like it should be available soon after or after the device launches in early 2024.

Users could watch YouTube videos through the Safari browser, but that’s all. Access to YouTube in general was never going to make or break the Vision Pro project, but given the device’s recent poor sales, it seems too little, too late.

It never really felt like the Vision Pro had much of an audience to begin with. But hey, those who bought it can now at least watch 8K YouTube videos.
