If you’re trying to play an episode on Apple Podcasts, you may have an issue today.
Apple’s podcasting platform was disrupted on Tuesday morning due to a massive Cloudflare outage that affected major online platforms. At 6:48 a.m. ET, Cloudflare reported it was “investigating an issue that impacts multiple customers” with “widespread 500 errors.” At 7:21 a.m. ET, Cloudflare reported, “Services are recovering, but customers may see higher error rates than normal as we continue improvement efforts.”
According to Apple’s System Status page, there are no current issues with the Apple platform; However, at the time of writing, Apple Podcasts is not available to Mashable employees who tried to access it, as well as users posting on social media.

Mashable has contacted Apple for more information.
Cause of Cloudflare outage revealed: This is what happened.
In a statement provided to Mashable via email, Cloudflare said, “We observed an abnormal traffic increase to one of Cloudflare’s services starting at 11:20 UTC. This caused some traffic passing through Cloudflare’s network to experience errors. We do not yet know the cause of the abnormal traffic increase. We are prepared to ensure that all traffic is served without errors. After that, we will resolve any abnormal traffic. Will focus on investigating the reason for the spike.
“We will post updates and more in-depth analysis on Cloudflarestatus.com when it is ready on blog.cloudflare.com.”
This is a developing story and will be updated as new details emerge.
