Anthony Joshua losing to Jake Paul would be the end for boxing, says promoter Eddie Hearn | Boxing News

If Jake Paul beats Anthony Joshua it would send shivers through the boxing world and in Eddie Hearn’s view it would be the end of it.

Paul, a former YouTuber and now fighter, will box Joshua on December 19 in Miami.

Joshua is, of course, an Olympic gold medalist, two-time heavyweight world champion and by far the bigger man of the pair.

His skill level and experience largely outweighs that of Paul, who has had 13 professional fights and operates around the cruiserweight limit.

Losing to Paul would be a disaster for Joshua, and would be a stain on his legacy. But his promoter Hearn can’t see that happening.

“He’s ranked among the top 50 cruiserweights in the world,” Hearn said of Paul. “He’s a legitimate cruiserweight now. I don’t think he’s world-class and I don’t think there’s any non-world-class cruiserweight that can step up to heavyweight and beat Anthony Joshua.

“Maybe I’m wrong. If I’m wrong, I think my time is up. Not just AJ and I, I think we should all retire. So AJ, the burden of boxing rests on your shoulders, my friend!”

Hearn naturally expects Joshua to dispose of Paul quickly. “I really believe it’s going to be straight-up disaster,” the promoter said. sky sports“It’s a real fight, It’s a sanctioned competition,

“It is completely illegal to make any kind of agreement about how the fight will take place.

He added, “Nice deal to Jake Paul. He signed up for a real fight.” “Less than a minute into that fight he starts thinking to himself: ‘What have I done here?’ And more importantly: ‘What am I going to do?’

“There is no survival for Jake Paul in this fight… You will find out very quickly what this game is. And it will not be pleasant for you.”

It’s not yet clear what success will mean for AJ. Would he want to knock Paul out in the first two rounds, the first round, the first minute?

“AJ, he has no interest in hanging around. He’s not capable of doing that,” Hearn said. “He can’t do that because as soon as he feels weakness, as soon as he smells blood, he drops his hands.

“And as soon as he gives up in this fight, Jake Paul is going to be in big trouble.

Heavyweight boxer Jermaine Franklin shares his opinion on Anthony Joshua’s matchup against Jake Paul

“Will (AJ) watch for a minute? Maybe. But if Jake Paul shows any signs of aggression, the fights will be over. And if he doesn’t he’ll be brought down and beaten.

“I’d say two rounds is fair for Anthony Joshua. I’d be disappointed if AJ couldn’t knock him out in round two.”
