AMC Theaters is launching its most aggressively discounted discount pass yet that will give members of its Stubs loyalty program up to 50 percent off a large popcorn every day of the week. This pass costs $29.99 per year before taxes, which also includes the existing Stubs benefit of one free refill per day.

Despite the growing variety of concessions menus, popcorn remains a popular after-purchase item. Maverick AMC CEO Adam Aron also tried to get into the business of selling his popcorn in retail establishments, since the snack is so tied to the movie watching experience. At some locations, including many in the LA area, a large popcorn can cost as much as $11.99, making it more expensive, or on par with offerings like chicken tenders or pizza.
“AMC Popcorn Pass makes it easier than ever for guests to enjoy their favorite treat every time,” Carrie Trotter, AMC’s senior vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “From families looking to make memories to movie lovers who never miss a blockbuster, this new offering delivers incredible value and adds even more joy to every trip to the movies.”
Although it launches on Cyber Monday, the new Popcorn Pass can be purchased at any time throughout the year. There are a few stipulations: Discount is only eligible for in-theater purchases and is not valid for mobile orders. The pass must be used by the passholder, and a photo ID is required.
This discount is available to AMC Stubs members at all AMC locations in the United States. It replaces the AMC Classics annual bucket promotion, which saved Stubs members on a bucket of popcorn and allowed refills on the same day. It was only available at AMC Classics locations, which offer a more affordable movie watching experience and was previously operated by CarMike. There are no locations in California.
According to the circuit, lakhs of guests have signed up to avail the benefits of AMC stubs. There are several subscription options beyond the free tier.
