Amazon.com says things are fixed after some issues with logging in and checking out

If you were having trouble making purchases on Amazon or loading your playlists on Amazon Music on Thursday, you weren’t alone. Over three hours today, DownDetector observed a large increase in people reporting problems with checkout, search, and login. The issue appears to be affecting both the site and mobile apps. But an Amazon spokesperson explains The Verge That issues are now fixed.

“We regret that some customers may have temporarily experienced issues while making purchases,” Amazon spokeswoman Jennie Bryant said in a statement. “We have resolved the issue, which was related to software code deployment, and the website and app are now running smoothly.”

many the verge When problems did occur, employees experienced the problems themselves. Clicking on many products produced a “Sorry, something went wrong” error, and even the pages that loaded were not showing pricing. Users reported being repeatedly logged out of their accounts when attempting to check out or load their carts. Even the parts of Amazon.com that were working appeared to be loading slowly.

The company is dealing with AWS outages in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates due to Iranian military drone attacks, but there have been no reports of more widespread outages in the US or elsewhere.

Update March 5: A comment from Amazon added that things have been fixed.
