Logan, Utah – Utah State University Vice President and Director of Athletics cameron walker announced the contract extension of women’s football head coach on Friday Manny MartinsExtended his tenure until the 2030 season. Martins and the women’s soccer program are making their third consecutive Mountain West Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.
In his five years at the helm, Utah State has compiled an overall record of 63–26–24 (.664) with a 31–12–11 (.657) mark in conference play. His .657 winning percentage in conference play ranks second in Mountain West history. Under Martins, the Aggies have dominated at home and have compiled a 36–5–10 record, including an undefeated 13–0–5 record over the last two seasons.
“Manny reflects the standard we are building at Utah State, striving for competitive excellence and winning with integrity,” Walker said. “Having him at Logan is important to the progress of our department and the advancement of our football program, and we look forward to building on the winning culture he has brought to the program.”
Despite an injury-plagued season, Martins again demonstrated his coaching ability, leading the Aggies to their third consecutive Mountain West Tournament title. In the final 10 games before their first-round NCAA Tournament matchup, USU lost only once and outscored opponents 26–8 overall.
“The state of Utah and the Cache Valley community feel like home,” Martins said. “I am incredibly excited to continue our winning traditions and build on the momentum and championships earned by our program. I look forward to leading this program as we continue to compete for titles on both the Pac-12 and national stages.”
Utah State finished the 2024 campaign 18–1–5, won a program-record 18 matches and spent eight weeks in the top 25, climbing to No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. The No. 7 ranking tied the highest mark by a Utah State team in any sport and was the best since the men’s basketball team was also ranked No. 7 in 1961.
Martins and his coaching staff were named the 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Pacific Region Coaching Staff of the Year, marking the second consecutive year a USU staff earned the honor.
Utah State set several records in 2024, including program bests for wins (18), goals (62), assists (65), points (189) and shutouts (15).
In 2023, Martins led the Aggies to their first Mountain West title, capturing the tournament championship and qualifying for the program’s third NCAA Tournament in history.

The Martins have had four players signed professional contracts, one player drafted into the NWSL, and three players invited to U.S. national team camps.
In the class, 80 players have earned Mountain West Scholar-Athlete recognition, and 74 have been named to Academic All-Mountain West teams.
