Actress Tara Reid files police report after hospitalization – NBC Chicago

Suburban authorities have confirmed that actress Tara Reid has filed a police report in connection with an incident that happened over the weekend.

According to the Rosemont Department of Public Safety, Reed filed a police report after speaking with detectives Tuesday afternoon, revealing new details about the incident that happened Sunday morning at a suburban hotel.

Rosemont officials confirmed that police and paramedics responded to an EMS call at the Doubletree Hotel on River Road at approximately 12:39 a.m. Sunday.

According to authorities, patrol officers assisted Rosemont paramedics and transported Reed to an area hospital.

Video posted by TMZ, which was obtained by a witness, showed the “American Pie” actress on a stretcher, with the actress telling the publication that she left a drink unattended at the bar while she smoked a cigarette and when she returned, there was a napkin on top of the drink that she didn’t put there. She went to drink her drink and the next thing she remembered was waking up in the hospital.

Reed’s representatives did not respond to NBC Chicago’s requests for comment, but a representative told People that the actress believes her drink was “tampered with” and said she has “filed a police report.”

Police told NBC Chicago that no such report had been filed as of Monday, but that changed on Tuesday when authorities confirmed that detectives had spoken to Reed.

Rosemont police did not say why Reed filed a police report, and did not provide further details. They said the investigation is ongoing and they “understand the seriousness of the allegations” made by the actress.

“The Rosemont Department of Public Safety understands the seriousness of the allegations being reported and is committed to thoroughly investigating this incident,” officials said in a statement. “At this point, we are in contact with the hotel to gather as much video surveillance as possible. As this incident has just been reported and is still open, no further information is available at this time.”

The actress’ spokesperson issued a statement after the incident.

“She is cooperating fully with the investigation. Tara is recovering well and asks for privacy during this painful time,” a statement from Reed’s rep said. “She urges everyone to be careful, keep an eye on their beverages and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone.”

Reed was in the Chicago suburbs to attend the Chicago Sports Spectacular on Sunday.
