AC Milan 1-0 Lazio: Rafael Leao scores to send Milan top of Serie A

Rafael Leao scored as AC Milan went top of Serie A with a narrow win against Lazio, which was denied a penalty in second-half stoppage-time.

The Portuguese scored from close range six minutes into the second half after Fikayo Tomori headed the ball across the box.

As the match approached the end, Alessio Romagnoli’s shot hit Strahinja Pavlovic’s arm, but after a check by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), a penalty was not given, angering the Lazio players.

Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri was shown a red card during the five minutes it took to make the decision as both sides waited for the result.

The result means Milan move top, one point above Roma who host defending champions Napoli on Sunday (19:45 GMT) while Lazio remain eighth.
