If you’re a film enthusiast or, even better, a fan of Criterion Closet Picks videos, you’ll want to know about the half-off sale going on at the Criterion Collection on DVDs at Barnes & Noble. According to the site, the sale will run until December 7, featuring “contemporary and classic films from around the world, including cult favourites, psychological dramas, up-and-coming comedies and films from some of the most renowned directors.” Not to be left behind, Amazon is also offering half off a selection of its Criterion DVDs.
The sale includes more than 1,600 films from the Criterion Collection. The latest additions, mostly from the 1980s, include Altered States, which has all the weirdness you might expect from a Ken Russell film; The Breakfast Club, beloved by any teen in the 1980s, and Rob Reiner’s hilarious rock-bio satire This Is Spinal Tap. These and a vast array of famous and obscure-but-worthy films from the silent era to today are now available at half price.
With the holidays coming up, it’s the perfect time to pick up a DVD or two for friends, family or yourself.
