Following on from the first one, Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) are well established as the protectors of the Mushroom Kingdom. But when Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie) arrives to break their father (Jack Black) out of his mini-prison, the brothers have to travel across the universe to stop him. Along with the returning Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Todd (Keegan-Michael Key), they have a new ally in Brie Larson’s Rosalina, another princess who lives in outer space and raises Lumas.
But this new trailer is really all about Yoshi, and sheds light on how he’ll fit in with the brothers and Toad. He’s not the only dinosaur to appear: There’s also a long-ago Birdo and a brief appearance from T.Rex mario Fans will remember from 2017 super mario odyssey. During the stream, Shigeru Miyamoto teased that Yoshi and other “several familiar characters…will play an active role in the film”, so that’s something to look forward to. Well, that and the new stuff that will be created for each of them.
