‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’: How tall is Ser Duncan the Tall?

To be called “The Tall” you have to be pretty tall, but how tall are we talking exactly?

This may not be your biggest question after watching a knight of the seven kingdomsBut we’re willing to bet that it might have crossed your mind.

The show includes several mentions of the towering stature of everyone’s favorite hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey). But how tall is the character in George RR Martin’s Dunk and Egg books, and what is the measurement of the actor who plays him?

How tall is Ser Duncan the Tall?

Despite there already being many jokes and references about Dunk’s impressive height – “The seven guys above gave you the height!” Ser Lionel Baratheon (Daniel Ings) at one point, after commenting on Dunk’s stooping, says, “So be taller!” – We don’t know exactly what that impressive height is. Ser Duncan towers over all the other characters, but how tall is he? Are we talking about the height of the hound? mountains? tall?

Luckily, we have George RR Martin’s books as a reference point. In the Dunk and Egg series, Ser Duncan is measured at one inch shy of seven feet. So, at least canonically, the character is 6’11” tall.

How tall is Peter Claffey, the actor who plays him?

There aren’t a lot of actors – or people in general – who are 6’11”, so it’s probably not surprising that onscreen Dunk isn’t that tall.

Former rugby union player turned actor Peter Claffey Is However, a large man, his height is said to be 1.95 meters or about 6’5”.

In other words, he’s about six inches shorter than the Dunk Martin we see in his books. But when you’re still a cut above almost every other person around you, maybe it doesn’t matter so much.
