After 13 years at 6abc, reporter Annie McCormick is leaving the station, she announced on social media. His last day was Monday, December 1.
She said in a Facebook post, “For our viewers, I just wanted to do the work that the Constitution gives us the right to do in the most fair and respectful way possible. I am most grateful for the everyday people who have allowed me to be there even on the darkest days of my life. I have learned the greatest lessons of my life from my viewers.”
“I will continue to tell people’s stories through various mediums, stay tuned,” she said.
In his announcement, McCormick did not specify what his next career move would be. She said she is grateful for her time at 6abc and is “looking forward to my next chapter in journalism.”
McCormick and 6abc did not respond to requests for comment.
McCormick joined 6abc in 2012 as a general assignment reporter. She began her journalism career as a White House photo intern during the Clinton administration and worked as a photojournalist for several outlets, including the Philadelphia Daily News.
As a television reporter, he worked in Texas, New Mexico and Harrisburg before returning to Philadelphia. Born and raised in South Jersey, McCormick remained local to attend Muhlenberg College.
McCormick shared in his post that he is continuing to write his latest book, restless ghostA historical true-crime story about the deaths of two Moorestown, NJ, socialites in 1929. It is scheduled for publication sometime next year.
