5 plays that stood out from Cowboys’ Thanksgiving win over Chiefs

Dak Prescott has been great throwing the football this season, especially on play action. On Thursday, he had arguably his best throw of the game and perhaps even of the season. With a lead of seven points on their own ten-yard line in the fourth quarter, typically you will see teams running the football, wasting time and attempting to methodically march downfield.

Instead, Brian Schottenheimer decided to throw deep. Before they can do so, Dallas’ offensive line slides left and forces most of Kansas City’s defensive line out of the way. Trent McDuffie, who was lining up against CeeDee Lamb, attacks a corner, but the Cowboys were prepared for it and Hunter Luepke forced him out of the way.

All of this allows Prescott to step into the throw, even though he has pressure on his face, and he gets hit immediately after releasing the ball, launching CeeDee Lamb down the field. Lamb ran right past everyone, because by the time the safety turned his hips in coverage, he and Lamb were side by side. This would usually favor Lamb, who has to wait for the ball but still comes up with a huge 51-yard reception that turns the field, and ultimately ends the game.
