3 Lopes earn spots on TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week

Following a week filled with a penalty kick win over UCLA and a 2-1 win over No. 8 seed San Diego, three GCU men’s soccer players were named to this week’s TopDrawersSoccer Team of the Week.graduate goalkeeper Daniel Ibarra Earned a spot in the 11-man squad, while freshman forward junior diouf and second year guard Felipe Cobian Named an honorable mention.

While Ibarra has been dominant throughout the 2025 campaign, one shining moment came against UCLA where he saved a penalty kick in the PK after both teams played to a 0-0 draw due to persistent rain in Westwood on November 20 to give GCU a 3-1 lead over UCLA.

Ibarra made six saves against the Bruins and equaled that number with another six against San Diego on Sunday, November 23, for a total of 12 saves for the week and only one goal. The win was the first in program history for the Lopes in the DI NCAA Tournament.

Diouf extended his national goalscoring lead by scoring his 18th goal of the season in the 88th minute against the Toreros in front of 1,500 fans. Diouf’s goal gave Lopez a 2–1 lead with a few minutes remaining.

Diouf’s goal was set up by Cobian, who sent a volley pass. Alan Rosaleswhich found Diouf running in for the game-winning goal, Diouf’s eighth of the season. Cobian played every minute of every competition on a back line that ranked 14th nationally in goals against average.

GCU has advanced to the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament and will face No. 9 seed Portland on Saturday, November 29 in Portland, Oregon at 8 pm MST.
