15 counties in Michigan under winter weather alerts with chance for 3-12 inches of snow

15 counties in Michigan are under winter weather alerts with the potential for up to 12 inches of snowfall.

Here are the affected counties,

Mason, Muskegon and Oceana counties are under a winter storm warning from now until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Emmet County is under a Winter Storm Warning from 4 PM Monday to 8 AM Tuesday.

  • Emmet County – Monday 4 pm to Tuesday 8 am.

  • Mason County–Now through 7 a.m. Tuesday.

  • MUSKEGON COUNTY – Now until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

  • Oceana County–Now through 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Heavy snowfall is expected, with total snow accumulations between 4-12 inches. Overdosage is possible in spots.

Snow intensity is expected to increase during the afternoon, especially along the Lake Michigan coast, from Grand Haven to Muskegon to Montague.

Hazardous road conditions may affect commutes Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

A winter weather advisory is in place for Ottawa, Lake and Newaygo counties until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Charlevoix, Cheboygan, eastern Mackinac and southeast Chippewa counties – as well as Mackinac Island and Bois Blanc Island – are under a winter weather advisory from 4 p.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Antrim, Benzie, Leelanau and Manistee counties are under a winter weather advisory from 7 p.m. Monday through 8 a.m. Tuesday.

  • Antrim County – Monday 7pm to Tuesday 8am.

  • Benzie County – Monday 7 pm to Tuesday 8 am.

  • Charlevoix County – Monday 4 pm to Tuesday 8 am.

  • Cheboygan County – Monday 4 pm to Tuesday 8 am.

  • Chippewa County (southeast) – Monday 4 pm to Tuesday 8 am.

  • Leelanau County – Monday 7 pm to Tuesday 8 am.

  • Mackinac County (Eastern) – Monday 4 pm to Tuesday 8 am.

  • Manistee County – Monday 7 pm to Tuesday 8 am.

  • Ottawa County – Now through 7 a.m. Tuesday.

  • LAKE COUNTY–Now through 7 a.m. Tuesday.

  • Newaygo County – Now through 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Snowfall is expected, with total accumulations expected to be between 3-7 inches. Overdosage is possible in spots.

The intensity of the snowfall is expected to increase by Monday afternoon, especially along the Lake Michigan coast.

Drivers should plan to encounter slippery road conditions that impact commutes Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
