· Issue #10932 · TechEmpower/FrameworkBenchmarks · GitHub

For over a decade, the TechEmpower Framework benchmarks have been a shared passion project between our team and the broader web development community, helping developers understand how much their technology choices can impact raw performance. Today, with full hearts, we are announcing that we are ending this project.

When we first published the results in 2013, we had no idea that this experiment would become a reference point for the entire industry. Over the years, the benchmarks have expanded to dozens of languages, from Go and Java to Ruby, PHP, C#, Python, and many others, almost all of them added and maintained by you. Together we sent results from over 20 rounds, looked at thousands of pull requests, and watched as teams around the world used these numbers to guide performance work and inform architectural decisions.

What made this project special wasn’t just the charts, but the community behind them. You debated the design, contributed new frameworks and databases, chased down flaky runs, tuned the kernel, rewrote handlers, and turned obscure micro-optimizations into shared knowledge for everyone. Maintainers devoted weekends to keeping their implementations up to date, companies donated infrastructure and engineering time, and countless developers quietly used the data to learn, experiment, and push their stacks a little further.

Ending a project does not eliminate its impact. The reserves, history, and past results remain as snapshots of a community that cares deeply about understanding performance. We hope that the spirit of the TechEmpower Framework benchmarks will continue to inform the way you take measurements: with curiosity, skepticism, and a willingness to share what you learn.

On behalf of everyone at TechEmpower: Thank you. Thank you for the code, the benchmarks, the spirited arguments, the stars and issues and pull requests, and most of all, thank you for believing this project is worth building together. It has been an honor to lead this work, and we are deeply grateful that you have chosen to be a part of it for so many years.
